Yale Summer Session (YSS) Programs Abroad Application

Application opens: Tuesday, December 15, 2015
Application deadline: Monday, February 15, 2016

Yale Summer Session Programs Abroad are intense due to the condensed nature of the course material. The Study Abroad Committee selects applicants who are mature and motivated to participate fully in all aspects of the program, both in the classroom as well as during scheduled trips or activities.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older and have completed one year of college (programs are not open to high school students)
  • If you are a non-degree-seeking student, you must have a bachelor of arts or science degree
  • You must meet academic pre-requisites as listed in the program description
Application Process

  • To open an application, click on the “Start Applying” button, which will be active on December 15. If you are a Yale student, when you enter your NetID and password a MyCIPE profile will be created automatically. If you are not a matriculated student at Yale, you will be asked for an e-mail address and prompted to enter basic information to complete your MyCIPE study abroad profile.
  • Before submitting this application, you should read carefully all pertinent sections of the study abroad website, especially information relating to admissions, academic, housing and financial policies.
  • If you are an alumni of Yale Summer Session do not pay the $55 application fee; please contact studyabroad@yale.edu to request a waiver of the application fee.
  • If you plan to apply to both a Yale Summer Session program abroad and a course in New Haven, first pay the study abroad application fee of $55 in your MyCIPE account. You should then contact studyabroad@yale.edu to obtain a fee-waiver pin for the New Haven course application.
  • Your application will not be considered complete until all forms/items have a green check mark in the relevant boxes located in the "Completed" column in your MyCIPE account.
All applications will be reviewed after the February 15 deadline. Students will receive an e-mail from the MyCIPE system regarding admission; students can review their status any time by logging into their MyCIPE account and clicking on the relevant program name.

Other Summer Programs

If you wish to apply to a designated (non-Yale) study abroad program, you must choose from the programs listed in the CIPE database and complete a separate application. The application deadline for Yale Summer Session programs abroad is February 15, 2016, while the deadline for other designated summer programs is March 1, 2016. To learn more about the application and credit transfer process for designated programs, please visit www.yale.edu/summerabroad.
