Program Description:

Yale Year or Term Abroad Non-designated Program Petition

The Study Abroad Office will consider petitions for non-designated program approval on a case-by-case basis.

  • Non-designated refers to programs not listed in the CIPE database. If you are applying to a program listed in the CIPE database, please complete the Yale Year or Term Abroad application.

Please note: Before starting this petition, you must review the petition process on the Study Abroad website and meet with a Study Abroad Adviser. Only after completing these steps should you begin the petition process as outlined below.

Simultaneous Two-Step Petition Process

  1. Application for Admission into Program/University:  Students must apply directly to the university or program abroad they would like to attend. You can access the programs' applications directly from their websites. It is your responsibility to ensure all application materials are submitted to your desired program by the relevant deadline.
Program/University Deadlines: Deadlines vary and may be earlier or later than Yale's Summer Abroad deadline. Check program websites for deadlines.
  1. Yale Year or Term Abroad Non-designated Program Petition:  To apply to earn general Yale credit for your participation in a non-designated program, click on the "Start Applying" button at the top of this page. This will take you to the Yale Year or Term Abroad petition.

Visit the Study Abroad website to learn more about the petition process, advising hours, academic credit, and financial aid transfer.
