Yale in London offers small seminar classes, which earn full Yale credits, on British history, architecture or art history, literature, and drama. Courses are offered in both spring and summer, and instructors include Yale University professors and British scholars. The Summer Program consists of two, six-week long sessions. These sessions include two, one-credit courses each. The Spring Semester lasts for fifteen weeks and includes four, one-credit courses. Students take all courses which are offered during their session.
Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday, generally in the mornings, to give students time to explore London or surrounding areas in the afternoons and on weekends; students are free to visit other parts of Britain or Europe during long weekends or spring midterm break. Field trips to sites within London and to other English cities are an integral part of the program, including many sites off the tourist track. Drama courses include visits to everything from top West End plays to small, fringe productions, as well as talks by playwrights, directors, and actors.
